Fall Entertaining Ideas Roundup!

Hello you lovely, beautiful darlings! Ever since Labor Day, I have been clicking my heels together in anticipation of autumn. It is, hands down, my favorite season! When I was a kid living on the East Coast, my parents used to take my sister and I to a local pumpkin patch. We’d wheel out a squeeky old Radio Flyer wagon in search of the biggest, brightest pumpkins for our Halloween display. Although I live in Texas now, I still look forward to the cooler weather, the cinnamon and pumpkin treats and drinks, the fall parties and, last but not least, the spicy seasonal beer offerings. Yum!

So with that in mind, I wanted to get the ball rolling on a roundup of ideas for your fall festivity planning! If you’ve got other great ideas, I’d love to hear them in the comments section!

IDEA: Pumpkin Vases

Pumpkin vases are such a gorgeous, simple and inexpensive way to liven up your house or dinner table. The images above are some great examples of how you can accent your pumpkin with flowers ranging from rust-coloured mums to bright orange roses!

IDEA: Corn Centerpieces

Another lovely and inexpensive display piece, dried corn! Track down some unique Indian Corn cobs (husks included!) at your garden center, craft store or farmer’s market, wrap them with twine or cascade them over a spread of wheat and you’ve got an instant rustic conversation piece.

IDEA: Apple Votives

Core some ripe apples just deep enough to place a small votive candle and place in a large vessel or galvanized metal tub full of water for some seasonal mood lighting. These look great on buffet tables or in front of your house or venue as a warm welcome. I love the nostalgia of apple bobbing these votives bring back. They are so divine, Y’all!

RECIPE: Autumn Sangria

Looking for a new drink for your fall party that isn’t the same old beer and liquor? You must try this deliciously crisp sangria! The presentation alone is a gorgeous accent to your bar setup – I just love the cluster of sliced Honeycrisp apples, lemons and rosemary floating in the glass container. Your guests will thank you!

RECIPE: Hearty Chicken Stew with Butternut Squash and Quinoa

Listen Y’all, I would not steer you wrong when it comes to incredible stews and soups – they are my kryptonite! You absolutely have to bookmark this chunky chicken stew with butternut squash and quinoa! It is bursting with flavor and perfect for any occasion really: fall pot lucks, football game gatherings, lazy Sunday leftovers. You seriously cannot lose with this meal!

RECIPE: Mini Pumpkin Cheesecake

Cupcake Canyon went ahead and combined two of the best things in life with these Mini Pumpkin Cheesecakes. Nevermind wanting to eat a whole tray in a sitting – these are so freaking adorable! Gah! You know they will look gorgeous on your dessert table spread.

RECIPE: Apple Dumplings

In my teen years, my family and I would pick a weekend in the fall to visit the Renaissance Festival. We all had something there we had to get every time. For my sister, it was fairy potions or glitters, for my dad, it was turkey legs, for my mom, it was whimsical inspiration to nurture her creative soul, and for me, it was the apple dumplings. Soft baked apples wrapped in a  flaky crust, drizzled with caramel and set off with chilled vanilla bean ice cream? I hope this is what they hand me when I get to the gates of heaven. 😉
